What to Expect: Tour du Mont Blanc Itinerary Day by Day
DAY 1 – Thursday, August 1
Courmayeur → Champex du Lac
Our adventure begins in Courmayeur, where we’ll meet in the morning and transfer by private vehicle to Val Ferret. From Arnouva, we start our trek, ascending to the Elena Refuge and continuing up to the Col du Grand Ferret, marking the border with Switzerland, where stunning alpine landscapes unfold. From there, we descend past La Peule Refuge and continue down to La Fouly. A private transfer will then take us to Champex du Lac, a charming Swiss alpine village, where we’ll spend the night.
DAY 2 – Friday, August 2
Champex du Lac → Trient
Our second day of trekking unfolds entirely in Swiss territory. From Champex du Lac, we begin our ascent toward the scenic Bovine mountain pasture, offering breathtaking panoramic views. We then descend to the famous Col de la Forclaz before reaching Trient, where our refuge for the night awaits.
DAY 3 – Saturday, August 3
Trient → Argentière
Leaving the refuge behind, we begin our ascent to Col de Balme, where breathtaking views of the Chamonix Valley and its immense glaciers unfold before us. From there, we follow a scenic trail that leads us down to Argentière, completing another spectacular day of trekking.
DAY 4 – Sunday, August 4
Argentière → Chamonix
On our final day of trekking, we’ll follow one of the most iconic trails in the Chamonix Valley, leading to the breathtaking Refuge du Lac Blanc (accessible via a short climb with easy wooden steps). From there, we begin our descent towards Flégère, where we’ll take the Flégère cable car down to Chamonix. A private transfer will then take us back to Courmayeur, marking the end of this incredible trekking adventure.
The entire tour is conducted in Italian and English.

Physical Preparation for the Tour du Mont Blanc: What You Need to Know
The trek from Courmayeur to Chamonix is a moderately challenging adventure, requiring an average of 5-6 hours of hiking per day, with elevation gains of up to 1,100m (3,609ft). A key factor is that you’ll be carrying your own backpack, so previous experience in alpine hiking and multi-day treks is highly recommended. To fully enjoy this trek without difficulty, you should be in good physical shape and capable of hiking at least 15km (9.3mi) with 1,000m (3,280ft) of elevation gain in an alpine environment above 2,000m (6,562ft) without excessive strain. Additionally, you should be accustomed to hiking comfortably for at least 5 hours a day.
